Vijita de Silva Research Award 2016/17 in Library & Information Science new animated

The Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) is pleased to announce the Vijita de Silva Research Award’ the annual research award for the best completed research in Library and Information Science (LIS) field in Sri Lanka. The award comprises a cash grant of Rs 50,000.00 and a certificate. In the event the award is given to two researches, each will receive Rs 25,000.00 and a certificate.  


Workshop on 'Stock Verification in University Libraries' new animated

The Academic Libraries Group of the Sri Lanka Library Association is organizing a workshop on “Stock Verification in university Libraries” on 27th January 2017 at the Seminar Room of the University of Colombo Library from 8.30 to 4.00 pm.

The workshop was planned as there seem to be many issues related to the procedure of stock verification, report generation and dealing with the lost books. The main objective is to draft a Policy for the UGC to adopt on stock verification in university libraries. Mr. S. Mayadunne, former Auditor General and one or two persons from the university finance section will conduct the workshop.



Call for papers 

National Conference on Library and Information Science (NACLIS 2017) is a platform for sharing research findings and knowledge of library and information professionals from different sectors in Sri Lanka.  This conference will be hosted by Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) to enable the young researchers and librarians who march towards sustainable development goals through library and information services.

One of the important objectives of the conference is to materialize the concept and proposals in the real world context with possible level of novel technology embedded in the library sector. We cordially invite contributions as extended abstract or full papers from library professionals and researchers from Sri Lanka. Deadline for submission of papers on or before 15th February, 2017.
