IFLA President Ms Ellen Tise (South Africa) has accepted the invitation extended by the SLLA President and the Council to attend the main ceremony and the conference to celebrate the SLLA Golden Jubilee. A Buddhist religious ceremony was held at Gangaramaya temple, Colombo on 12th February 2010 to invoke blessings for the SLLA Golden Jubilee ceremony. The Chief Priest of the temple Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara Thero presided over the ceremony. President, Council members and other members of SLLA participated at the ceremony. The Hindu, Islam and Christian ceremonies will be held in the coming days.

This is Golden Jubilee Year!
Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) is getting ready to launch an elaborate programme to celebrate its Golden Jubilee year in 2010.
The SLLA unveiled the Golden Jubilee logo on the 12th January 2010 (shown here).
New SLLA posters released

Internationally acclaimed Sri Lankan artist Ms Sybil Wettasinghe has designed the first three posters for the SLLA Golden Jubilee celebrations (update: on 25 January 2010, SLLA issued the second set of posters - see bottom of this article).
This marks the issuing of first set of promotional materials. The posters can be downloaded now.
